Engagement Photograph of Wyoming Couple with Rocky Mountain Horse in Jackson Hole

Derek & Becca Engaged | Jackson Hole Engagement Photographer

I don’t share a lot of my feelings on this blog, because I’m usually really concerned about my SEO. Afterall: I’m a business, man. But I did want to share this… because I might not ever get a chance to write it down anywhere if I don’t share it now. So.. bear with me, please:

From time to time, at certain times throughout the day, my daughter will come running down the hall after my wife has changed her outfit, to come show me what she’s wearing. Whether it’s a dress, a snow suit, or her onesie jammies with bunnies (or pink piggies) on the feet, she just can’t wait to show me, for me to swoop her up in my arms, to kiss her, and tell her how much I love her and how beautiful she is to me. I had a moment, the other evening, when my daughter – a little over a year old – came to show me her jammies while I was looking through photos, and at that moment I thought far, far ahead into what could maybe be the future. Lord willing, one day I’ll open a door, I’ll see her in probably the best wedding dress in the world (sorry ladies), and I’ll swoop her up in my arms and probably weep like a small child, while someone takes a photo of me with their Google glasses (this IS the future, afterall).

And then, Lord willing, to one day hand her off to a man that I can trust, a man that I can serve alongside, and a man that I’m impressed with. A man that probably defeated me in hand to hand combat to win my princess away from me. A God-fearing man.  I’ve been thinking about that kind of man. Granted, I pray for him every night (and that I wouldn’t kill him. just kidding. maybe) – but lately I’ve been thinking about him. An impressive man.

That brings us to Derek and Becca, here.  Becca is a great gal – she helped us move into our apartment, serves and works with conviction, and I’m pretty sure she helped watch my son while we were in labor with my daughter a little over a year ago.  Derek, though… I’m impressed with Derek. I’ve only known him since he moved out here, but he’s made many discerning decisions, and has grown quite a bit since the day I ran into him at Subway a couple summers ago after he’d just blown back into town and was looking for work.

That’s right, brother. You’ve come far.  I’m impressed with you, and it’s been an honor to get to know you. Take good care of Becca, as unto your God.  Be grateful that you’re not trying to marry my daughter, because I can take you.  Love you man.

These engagement photos were taken with permission at a private residence here in Jackson, WY. The primary horse featured in this session is a Rocky Mountain Horse. Becca also made a dress out of ties, as well as a tie made out of ties, both of which are featured towards the end of this set.
